Copenhagen Fashion Week Street Style: Layers, Neckties and Knitwear

Copenhagen, the Scandinavian capital known for its crisp hemlines, minimalistic proclivities, and dedication to sustainable best practices, welcomed yet another Spring/Summer season on February 27th.
On and off runway, we witnessed a peppering of bright chartreuse and royal blues paired with decadent dark brown leathers and velvety suedes. Layering was, of course, to be expected as temperatures throughout the week averaged a frigid four degrees. Though some styling was clearly for warmth, most highlighted intricate details and showed off unique aesthetics. The city is lauded as one of the most environmentally conscious in the world. Just on the heels of the big four, Copenhagen has gone as far as to ban exotic animal skins and feathers. The fashion capital clearly isn’t afraid to shake up the industry landscape, and neither are its best dressed attendees.
Though the sun didn’t shine for much of the week, sunglasses still made their way into outfits regardless of aesthetic. Large ostentatious frames were propped onto faces and closed on necklines, nevertheless. Texture was paramount. Distressed woolen sweaters juxtaposed satin scarves, while gel spiked haircuts posed an homage to the 1990s punk scene. Neutral looks were elevated with exultant accessories and undaunted silhouettes. Thus showcasing that the incorporation of high-spirited colours may do a lot of the talking, but so does a bit of theatricality along seamlines.
The week, usually focused on more commercial design work and capsule collections borne of thoughtful restraint, bloomed outward in the way of jovial pattern alliances. The constant clamouring of bag charms could be heard across the cobblestone streets while playful balaclavas, and neckties - which could've been stolen from your bfs closet, embellished the season’s guestlists. It was clear that attendees were having as much fun in their front row seats as they were gallivanting from one catwalk to the next in much brighter-than-the-weather-reflected, stylings.
Copenhagen fashion week showed its teeth this AW25 season. Gnashing forward to even closer alignment with the global top four - the stacked lineup and dedicated attendees further proved its starpower on the global stage.
